Hi all I have a 17" common pleco. he has long barbels and has recently become a lot more active. I have noticed he has a bump protuding the vent. I know that with cichlids this means the fish are in breeding condition. Now I know absolutely nothing about breeding pleco's but this is my only one. I was considering getting hold of another large one and attempting to breed them if my pleco is in breeding condition.

My camera broke last week so unfortunately I can't take apicture but if its a sign of breeding i'm sure you guys can tell me without pictures. PS the fish is in a 225 gallon 36" wide tank.

well like I said my camera is broken so I have no way of taking a picture. I can't really explain it but it looks like an egg laying tube or fertilizer of some kind. if anyone could give me a link to show how to sex pleco's it might be that simple. I don't know anything about pleco's really thats the problem
