my blue acara has a small white bump under his eye, almost looks like a whitehead from a pimple.

the tank has gone through a few bouts of ich but I haven't lost any fish. Now, there is some 'scarring' on some of the fish, i don't know how to get a picture up at the moment but really looks just like little white 'marks' inside the fins of the fish. this might be related or not, but now, quite suddenly, theres this little white bump under his eye, and i have no idea what it could be? any ideas? i would be enormously upset if i lost any of these guys, i am so careful about their health.

EDIT
i found another spot, on his chin, that one was there when i got him, i think. i seem to recall seeing it and wondering what it was but not thinking anything of it. they look like skin tags on people, you know, those little flecks of skin? they are off-white in color.

well it appears to be lymphocystis. the little guy is isolated but it's probably too late for that by now. it is my understanding that this ailment is generally not dangerous and will resolve itself in a matter of several weeks?

I believe it is true that it is generally not dangerous, but I'm less certain that it will resolve itself . . . I dealt with this problem several years ago, but for the life of me I can't remember what I did to fix it . . . I think one possible treatment was acriflavine . . .

I do recall that it was supposed to be contagious, however . . .

i can't say that it looks exactly like that, it looks a lot more like a skin tag. and hes got three of them. now, none of my other fish have anything like this, but they do have some 'scarry' stuff on them. is it possible to scar from ich? they've had it a few times, poor bastards. otherwise, i think i moved the acara in time, i hope.

also, how contagious is this? i mean, is it like ich, where i can be certain my other fish will get it? or should i maybe be okay with removing the acara, and the other fish will be fine? i really hope to christ it's not in my main tank. jesus on a bicycle. that would really make me sad.

i'm one of those wackos that sings impromptu songs to his fish.

it's been a while since I've dealth with lympho, but if you google it you will find lots of information . . . it is not uncommon, and, as I recall, it is a particular concern to people who keep koi . . .
