I just got some peacocks a couple of weeks ago. The one fish had a cloudy eye about a week after I got them. A friend told me to treat them with Melafix. The Melafix is not helping. The one eye has gone from cloudy to white and puffy, and now it looks like a cotton ball. I stumbled across nationalfishpharm.com and according to them a white cottony growth over the lens of the eye is Saprolegnia Fungus. It says to treat with copper sulfate. My cousin has a saltwater tank and has some Sea Cure Copper Treatment. It contains deionized water, copper sulfate and acid. Is this safe to use? Any guidance would be appreciated. Should I treat the whole tank? I don't really have another tank to put him in.
my tank
150g
5 peacocks about 3-3.5 inches
nitrate 5 - 10 ppm
amonia 0

I got a hospital tank set up and treated him with maracyn and that knocked out the fungus but I think that eye is done for. The fish seems healthy and is eating very well but the one eye is flat and still a little cloudy looking.

Don't count that eye out yet. My buddy gave me a shredded peacock bass that his bigger bass had beat up pretty badly. His fins were tattered both eyes were bad off w/ one eye totally bloodshot and lookig like it was popping out of his head, but after a few months of clean water, stress coat, vitachem, salt and tlc, he is making a complete recovery. I'm truly amazed that eye healed the way it did.
