so i recently siliconed the divider in place in my dual betta 2.5g tank because there was space between the divider and the side of the tank and the fish were able to get through. i used black All-Glass brand aquarium silicone, and let it dry for a full 48 hours as per instructions on the package. the "vinegar" smell inside of the aquarium [from the silicone] was gone before i added water. well this was a few days ago and yesterday/today i've noticed my fish seeming very sluggish and mostly laying kind of on their sides [today] at the bottom of the tank, and just noticed a little while ago that there are white dots on some parts of my silicone. i've just removed the fish from the tank in hopes of saving them [though i'm not too hopeful..] and will be emptying the tank and boiling/sanitizing everything in it in hopes that the fish will be going back in [i.e. that they will live long enough to be able to live in there again], but what should i do about the silicone? do i let it sit and dry for longer? should i pull it out and try to re-do it, or use something else to fill the space in the divider [is hot-glue aquarium-safe?]? i don't even know if the fish will make it [the one that seemed in better health is laying on his side while floating at the surface in his new water...but he's alive and spazzes out when i move the water... but i'm sure he still won't make it...]. can someone please give me some advice with this?
by the way, tank was cycled with media from another [very established, very healthy] tank prior to putting the fish back in post-silicone
