white foam on sponge?

My sponge has a weird fungus of some sort on all of the tips of it, is it growing? or dying?

from my experience it is dying. it may have had exposure to air bubbles keep a close eye on it.

If it was exposed to air you can try cutting out the parts that are rotting. You might be able to save it if it's worth it to you. If, it was throughly exposed remove it from your tank before it starts to rot. I can't think of anything that stinks as bad as rotten sponge think of 4 day old diapers mixed with burning sulfur poured on a cow four days dead in the sun.
