In my 46 gal, I have had a malaysian driftwood sitting in it for 3 months or so. No filters running or anything. I have done water changes here and there, probably 5-7 total. I just now put some live plants in and I notice some white looking fungus stuff up underneath the driftwood. I have a picture. Just wondering what it is and how to get rid of it. Also will it hurt my live plants? :irked: thanks!

it happens... you can just rinse it off in the sink.. not a big deal..

I get this on my wood too. Some kinda fluffy slimy stuff. I was told its not harmful, and so far it hasnt done anything to my livestock. I occasionally take the wood out and rinse it and rub the stuff off.

I had the same thing a few months back, and took the wood out boiled it and scrubbed it again. Like everyone said, its harmless

I use to have it on my driftwood too... but whenever its there.. my fish just nips at it and eats it. Never caused any harm to my water or fishes. I don't think you should worry about it.

Will it go away on its own? It's a huge hassle for me to remove the driftwood, I got plants all on it/ around it etc.

Not quite. It will get bigger/thicker and some of it breaks off, also some fish will nip it and eat it. If you dont mind having a layer of fluffiness then just leave it. You could always put your hand there and rub away at some of it and not have ot remove the wood.
