I had these peices of driftwood in my closet and decided to put it back in my tank . I was about to do what hopefully will be the last time needed. I was looking at the wood an noticed alot ofwhite fuzz balls I thought they were infertile eggs but wanted a second opinion.

Its just a type of fungus that appears when wood is added to a tank. I always wipe it off. Never caused any harm to me.

Ok good to know

Yea its harmless. Some people will freak out and boil, bleach, and dry their wood, but all you need to do is siphon it off.

At first I thought it was from my hrp pair having eggs or uneaten food. I just pulled it and rinsed it off with a hose and it back after I did the water change

In most cases it's harmless. If it's persistent though it might start to foul your water as what happened to my dw before. I had to pull it out, and when I did, it smelled bad, not in a fishy way either(if that makes sense).

Yeah it was harmless in my case, except to the eyes that beheld it so I ended up removing the wood.Funny thing about it is that the wood has been in use in my tanks off and on for over ten years and this stuff only started to appear just recently.

I think it comes from dry wood cause when I first pulled then from the creek and boiled em it didnt happen. Now it did it after the wood dried and was put back in
