so im new at this fish hobby

i have a feather fin catfish and 2 african cichlids in a 10g tank

my problem is when i put in a zucchini slice into the tank after a day the zucchini has this white fuzz all over it? is this normal or do i have something wrong with my tank?

no idea. never fed veggies to fish, dont have cats. I do hear you should blanch the veggie first, and I imagine you probably shouldn't leave them in there for too long.

white fuzz is most likely bacterial growth. you may be overfeeding your catfish.

I'm no expert, and somebody else might have better info. those three fish will likely outgrow that tank, though.

10g usually too small for africans, unless it's one of those that uses snail shells to breed. Anyway, for your white fuzz, it's most likely fungi because your zuchini sitting in the tank for too long. put it in the freezer first which will soften it up and make it easier for your fish to digest. Normally for fish, I use romain lettuce leaves, and zuchini when i get it are for the plecos which loves them.

i had that problem at frist when i fed my pleco's zucinni
dont leave it in as long will helpsay overnight or durring the day while your up also smaller peaces helps. use small zucinni the larger ones i find shed more i use ones around 4"-6"

Simple. Zuchini only needs to be in the tank for a few hours. If your fish dont completely eat it after 4-5 hours, remove it. Rotting food will only make your water worse and harm your fish.

What kind of africans do you have?

exactly what mystix said!

The white stuff is fungi,if you continue to leave veggie's in too long that fungi will get on your fish.with the possability of killing them.I had the same problem feeding grapes to my gg.only i didn't realize it until he got it all over him and i had to treat with pimafix.it did kill my blue channel cat(RIP)I agree with MYSTIX.4-5 HOURS IS ENOUGH,OR OVER NIGHT ,BUT BE SURE TO TAKE IT OUT BEFORE IT STARTS TO COLLECT FUNGI

wow thanks for all the info guys :) much appreciated
