Okay, so I just got back from dinner and I'm drunk, so bear with my typing, it might suck.

Anyway, I noticed my piranha has a strange white growth-like spot on it's eye. Quite large in size, about as large as the pupil, and I'm wondering if this could be a symptom of something worse. I plan to do a good water change/cleaning tomorrow, but I'm rather concerned for his health at this point.

Mind you, I won't be able to respond until tomorrow, but if you know what might be occurring, please let me know. I will provide pictures if necessary.

yea could be cloud eye or could be fresh damage that may turn into cloud eye later.

in either case should change water and add a dash of salt.

happy hangover

Cloudy eye or could even be a larvae growing on it's pupil, last but not least eye damage another fish or something pointy in aquarium. Can end up blinding it down the road if not taken care of. Google cloudy eye & compare pics Or type in fish diseases. Select images for photo comparison. Hope it helps GL

If it's not direct eye damage cut/slice, then dose with extra salt as stated above. Or last resort if it get's really bad medicate it with Melafix (Antibacterial) all natural remedy. So is salt try salt first meds for last possible fix. But with Melafix it'll damper your benneficial bacteria till the med takes it course removing activated carbon while using it. Then a water change after treatment as instructed on bottle if you decide to use it. Should clear right up within a few days - week tops, if done right and depending how bad it is.

Thanks Dudzy, I try :P

Now, it seems the white spot is getting better, so my final assumption is that it must be some kind of puncture wound or something, as he does tend to charge around his tank some times and accidentally knock things over. He's alone in his tank, so there are no fish to harm him.

I'm thinking about that salt idea, if it still applies; how much do I use per gallon? Just regular table salt? The idea kind of worries me, but if you guys say it works, I'll try it~

try to search it online for exact amounts, lots of info. i knew a while ago but now just wing it.

salt works well, better than most medicines in my experience and way less invasive.

dont use table salt. use non-iodized ... but check that, i think that's what it's called, i ask for it under a different language here.

H'm, is it easily attainable? At a grocery store, maybe?
