Hey guys,

My severums have had these white growths for a long time, always thought it was lymphocystis so after a salt treatment, which didn’t help I just upped my waterchange schedule and it kind of went away. Until a couple months ago when my male rotkeil had this big lump behind his gills and under his fins, this lump burst open and a lot of white puss kept leaking out. The wound closed and all seemed to clear up.

This was after all the puss was drained and scales have started to return over the wound

Current state, eye has white blobs in it, white spots are all over his face and my female is also starting to have this big bump behind the gills and infront of the pelvic fins.

But as usual, when it seems to clear up it comes back worse. Was my hunch about it being lympho wrong? It only seems to affect my severums and other than the fact that they have weird puss like lumps they act and eat normal, but they stopped mating behaviour.

The tank has been setup for about 4 years now, never had any issues except a mystery death of my biggest severum a couple years ago.

Tank size: 180G

Tankmates are:
1x astronotus ocellatus
1x semaprochilodus taenarius
1x andinoacara Pulcher
1x andinoacara latifrons (I guess)
1x polypterus ornatipinnis
1x polypterus delhezi

Water parameters:

PH: steady around 7.5
GH: 7
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: Between 10-20 on waterchange day

Fungus? Bacterial maybe?
They've been showing symptoms for like 3 years, but everytime I think it's gone it comes back worse. Fungus or bacterial infections should not pop up as often and as long without it being more severe in earlier stages I believe and wont be limited to just my sevs. But then again, i'm not sure what to think anymore😅

Upon thinking, I have a goldfish that has something similar, white spot on lip that burst (dif than the sick goldfish)

Why do you think I should do that? Isn't that just a shortcut way to destroy my population of beneficial bacteria?

I also don't have gravel, I have sand that I vacuum every waterchange.
Sometimes the destructive way is the right way, sometimes you need to destroy and clean your tank, you will have to let it cycle again

Honestly, this would sound like a good idea if the majority of the fish would show symptoms and if there was an imbalance in water conditions which would cause fluctuations in water parameters. But as it is only limited to my severums and has been for the past 3 years, plus the fact that my water conditions are really stable makes me think it doesn't have anything to do with my water and tank.
