So from my experience this doesn't look like ich. Initially there was 1 spot (the lower one on the gill plate) and I kept an eye on him and it looked like it was healing or going away. I wrote it off simply as a scratch or busted scale. But today came home and noticed another identical white spot. They're raised off the scales like a wart would be. I was thinking it could be a fungus or external parasite. Thanks for any help! also currently doing a water change my parameters are 0ppm ammonia 0ppm nitrite around 25ppm for nitrate.IMG_2351.jpgIMG_2353.jpg

hard to say, anything change with them lately?

Maybe lymphocystis. Keep the nitrates down. Reduce any stress in the tank. Watch and hope it goes away.

I noticed the Red sevrum flashing which got me to notice the spots originally but other than that everyone eats and has the same temperament

I was thinking the same thing but I've never dealt with it so I was unsure. Im going to get my nitrates below 10ppm and add some salt and Pima and watch the tank for a day or two see if they get better or worse

I agree with kno4te, changing your water is always a good ideal as a first action. I would do a 90% or fin level water change, fin level being when the water level is just reaching the dorsal fin. by all means add prime or safe to the tank before filling. No ideal if salt would help. Its more of a dif use, but should not hurt them any.

if not better in day or 2 I would looking into a med, polyguard and the such, regretfully nothing out there if viral and can just hope.

Okay I'll do that water change now and hope for the best. and see what happens in the next day or so, in the mean time I'm going to see if any other fish have similar markings.

Looks like Lymphocystis to me. Sometimes my African cichlids get it and it goes away after a week or two on it's own with no treatment.

Like mentioned keeping low stress will help him build immunity to it faster but Its rarely fatal.
