My friend has these white hair like worms in his fry tank.
From what i've read they are planaria worm? and they come from over feeding?
He has sand in the bottom of his tank and a xl sponge filte and his water quality is good nothing high or even in the stress zone.
So what would be the cause and what is the way to get rid of them.

Tiny hair like worms that wriggle in the water coulmb are not planaria. These worms are harmless and feed off of fish waste. do a very good vacuming of your substrate with regualr weekly water changes and they will go away. Try feeding less as the more waste the fish produces the more food is available and will cause a population explosion of these little guys.

Planaria you usually see clinging to the glass, more so at end of the day.

yes they are hair like, snake swimming like thru the water and do land on the glass and then crawl like worms and only come around when he cleans the sand.
So what are they and how do you clear them out?

Keep up on water changes. I had these in my tank with low flow filters. Bigger filter more water changes and cut down on feeding. If they are in a fry tank they should get ate! good source of extra food!

The above. And less feeding. It is a sure sign of overfeeding.

Cool....I'll let him know...thanks
