I know these are highly sensitive fish and hard to keep alive, but it looks like this guy/gal has made it past the danger zone for shipping. For some strange reason when these guys are shipped and stressed they develop a blood spot at the end of the tail. If the blood spot continues to grow the fish will die. I am happy to announce that the blood spot on this guy is gone. Here is a before picture of when he arrived and here is a picture of the tail taken 5 minutes ago.

gr8 knife.....we need a video!

This is one of the only times I've ever heard of the deadly blood spot getting better. Certainly a testament to the quality of care Nick's fish must get, but make sure that spot heals all the way before trying to ship that guy again in the winter.

Thanks for the kind words. It really makes me feel good to know I must be doing something right to be able to keep all these sensitive fish thriving in our care. I have had the same luck with the Atlantic Rays. Never had a problem with them while they are here. I picked him up on Wednesday and the blood spot was bright red. Thursday it was less and last night it was pink and now it is 95% gone.

I think once this heals up completely a short 12 hour ship should not affect him to much.

awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sweet, how much is he???
