One could keep them in an all aquatic enclosure, but they do best when their enclsosure allows them out of the water. It is also best to not keep them in really deep water.

I keep the babies in an all aquatic set up with plastic plants allowing them to reach the surface for air. I keep my adult and subadults in waterland tubs that have a land area.

They do not get too big, max out at around 5 inches.

Easy solution to keeping turtles in an aquarium versus a turtle tub is to float some water hyacinth in the tank - they'll generally hang out on it most all the time unless they're feeding, be it holding into the sides under water or sitting on top.

I get large peices of driftwood and do an open top tank - large enough for the driftwood to come out of the water, they'll climb up on top of it to relax.
