The lipps on my 4" rd have turned white and the white skin appears to be shedding. He's in a 90 gl with other simillar sized cichlids so fighting may be the cause....Should i use chemicals to help him heal or will he be fine, and is this something common with this species?

It is probably from lip locking with others. Keep an eye on it and it should be fine. I do not know what other fish you have but keeping a RD in a 90 with other cichlids is a disaster waiting to happen.
The 90gl isn't his perminent home. Right now he's in with some africans, but after he grows a couple more inches he's going into a tank with my texas and they will remain the only two in there, besides maybe some dithers.
I hope your next tank is alot bigger than the 90 if hes goin in with a texas.

or he could have run into the glass or something hard i know that all fish if they run into the glass their jaw tip/ lips will turn white but it should regenerate
