Hi all,

Was at lfs this morning and I saw a 4" white/pinkish oscar similar to an albino convict color for $19.99. Lfs guy said its an albino hybrid and less aggressive than other oscars. I held back on buying it I figured I ask you first. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The personlaity of Oscars vary from fish to fish, but I have not heard of it being dependant on color. I would ask the LFS what the Oscar is a hybrid of. I am guessing the parrents were albinos selected for having more white than red in their coloration. If that is what it is ... it may be inbred. Not sure though.

Thank you. Will go back to lfs and ask a few more questions and decide from there whether to buy it or not.

19.99 way overpriced in my area anyway. Oscars have never been hybridized with anything. It is likely what they have is an albino or lutino varient oscar it is the same as any other oscar just a different color and will behave as such. If its a fish you're into thats cool just dont let anyone bs you into paying more these varients are fairly common ime

I decided not to buy it, nothing unique or extraordinary about it aside from the fact that I have 2 Os already. Good thing I asked here first. Thanks everyone.
