This is probably a generic question that might need to go to another section, but because it is directly concerning my subject of focus - my saratoga jardini, I hope your expertise can help me out.
I have been feeding it floating cichlid pellets, live crickets and frozen blood worms.
I have been trying to train my saratoga that when I turn of my cannister pump, it is feeding time.
Because the water is quite still during feeding time, I noted plenty of very small organisms in the tank, especially towards the water surface. They seem to be swimming in pulsating movements. I don't have a microscope but close observations give me the impression that they have multiple legs.
I told my LFS shop owner about this and he told me that they are worms / parasites, and are quite common and unharmful to my fish. He said he has them in his tanks too. I'm hoping the frozen blood worms he sold me cheaply weren't the cause of this.
I invested in a submersible UV steriliser in hope to protect my asset.
Also there has been a fish that died in the tank recently - but the cause of death was most probably due to the agressive nature of the saratoga...
Can someone shine some light on what these white organisms might be?
Tim
