I messed up and let ammonia spije in my tank from overfeeding. I saw waste that I probably should've vacuumed out but I didn't realize how much there was until I saw this fish was sick and did a water change.

He always had a messed up eye which I treated and he was fine until this ammonia spike.

I'm lucky I didn't lose any of the other fish.

What treatment should I use? Is that columnaris? I have kanaplex which I used to try to treat the eye last week. I also have ich x, general cure and erthromycin.

A complication is in leaving Monday night till Friday morning but someone will be here. I can have the person add meds were I'm gone but she can't do water change.

Thanks for any advice.

Possibly ammonia burn. Work on getting and keeping your water parameters stable. Also suggest feeding less.

Could be just from the elevated ammonia. Would get the ammonia down and watch. No meds just yet from what i can see. Clean water should help clear it up. Plus if its eating then even better.

Can add some carbon in the meantime.

What do I do to treat other than just keeping the water clean?

Ammonia spike won't happen again. I was just a moron last night.
I just added a filter pad from my main tank to make sure I had enough beneficial bacteria. I had removed a pad the night before as well .

I usually water change everyday and dont feed too much so they'll have stable water onward. They've been in this tank since August with no ammonia problems previously.

Thanks. Will water change again tonight and again,
water will be stable onward.

I just fed the tank and the fish in question is eating fine.

Thanks for the link. I've seen that. It could be ammonia burn, I'm still trying to study what it looks like. The stress from the elevated ammonia might have caused bacteria to take hold.
