Just notice fuzzy white growths on several of my bichir. Couldn't have been there for more than two days. Looks like tiny patches of cotton candy on their tales and on one the back of the pectoral fins.

There are 14 bichir living in a 180 gallon tank 2 xp's and two 405's for filtration as well as a uv sterilizer running 24/7. Water changes are about 50% every 4 days and they're fed every second day sometimes 5 days in a row. Temp is kept at 80-82. Sand for substrate sparsely decorated with wood.

It does appear to be bothering the larger bichir that has it on the backs of her pectoral fins.

Pics are impossible right now as i have no camera and the spots would be hard to photograph anyway.

First instinct is to treat for fungus but i have no idea how, any info greatly appreciated.

Also

Been about 5 weeks since last adding new fish, I do not feed my bichir feeders.

Dam i have never had that problem sorry i cant help. If this happened to me i would add some salt and see what happens in a few days. If there is no improvement than i would medicate. Salt worked to have worked for me with cloudy eye on my polys before.

Okay...Did an 80% water change last night. Now I can see no trace of the white fluffy spots on the bichir. It was definitely afflicting my three laps and one endli. I cant get a great look at the laps, but the endli looks 100% normal today. Im not crazy though, I'm positive they were covered in something last night.
