what is the breeding behavior for a female and a male

Off the top of my head:

Pretty much like any other basic South American cichlid.....Pair finds a slate or clears a depression in the sand and lays the eggs........Parents take care of the brood.........Best time to take out the spawn is when the wigglers become free-swimming, just about a week old......Sipohon the fry out and place them in 30-55g growout.....Feed them BBS(baby brine shrimp)..........

I am currently breeding orange saum fry. It's pretty much like everything import tracer said except mine always lay the eggs on a rock and the mother protects the eggs and fry while the father only somewhat participates. This time I didn't remove any fry for lack of space but they're doing fine with the parents at .5"-.75"

Nope, the fish comes in white, yellow, and red fin margins naturally depending where it is found. Natural variations over a large range.

kewl ive noticed my saum gil flaring my barra and trying to do the lip locking thing but my barra has no idea what its trying to do so the barra just bites and he runs away.

but sometimes the saum rubs up against my barra then put its mouth where the anal fin is theyve been doin this for the lst couple days.

i think this is a teritorial thing but it doesnt always seem agresive more afectionate i dunno what are your thought
