Today was bitter sweet. I decided my male and female gold saums(The babies to my pair) weren’t growing out as I had hoped. So I took them to the store as a trade in towards a tank.
It was sad to let them go, but I had my eye on a white saum at another fish store.

So this will be a growout thread for my new little girl
This is Jade 4/6/18

Not very colorful at the moment. But we did just get back from a 2hr drive.
She’s currently in a 55gal all by herself. Once the 135 is setup Jade, Oliver, and Greenie will be the centerpiece fish in the tank.

Good pick up. She is put together very well and looks like she will have a broad fan-tail, tail fin. A very good trait.

Thanks. I agree, her tail is very nice and broad. I hope her tail seam thickens up too.

Adorable little GT.

You would think it should thicken up some, Hotlipz seam has both thickened up and changed from faint yellow to metallic orange. 20180221_010629.jpg 20180406_214316.jpg

Nice white saum, gotta love em. Females are cute.

Jexnell Jexnell hotlips has really colored up beautifully.
I do think with time it will thicken up, they all seem to at some point.
And hopefully this time by herself she’ll put on some good size before I introduce her to the other two. She is just barely 3” right now. Greenie is over 6 and Oliver 8. She has catching up to do.

philipraposo1982 philipraposo1982 I might be asking for help with my microscope later. I noticed Jade had white poop this morning. If I can find it I will be looking to see if she was any parasites. So glad she is in quarantine after seeing that.
Any advice for now?

Thought I’d update Jade’s thread.
She took a long while to get eating normally after I got her. I never found any parasites, but she finally came around and has been doing great ever since.

She is impossible to get a good picture of. Always on the go and such an attitude since having fry.
This first picture was taken a month ago with the light on.

And a couple really blurry ones from today with natural light. DBA3FB46-A4CA-4021-A9A4-59A497B23C83.jpeg588CA5BB-14B3-4768-BD8B-E9C438958F5B.jpeg
I took those two durning a water change. That’s the only reason she is by my other female. They don’t get along and normally keep to their own sides of the tank.
The pictures are horrible. It does show how the light brings out her blues and natural light brings out her greens. She just shimmers as she swims.

It’s been a while since I updated Jades thread.
She has been great. Slow growing, but expected for a spawning female. Maybe between 4 1/2”-5”.
She spawned again yesterday and has a big attitude towards the 5 fry still in the tank. Looks like I might end up with babies all over again. :duh:
