White Saum pair

Picked up a pair of White Saum yesterday, both are a little thin and in need of some TLC. I'll use this thread to post updates of spawns and progress.

Here is a photo of the male, 7-8 inches at a guess.



A snap of the pair, female is similar length to the male but not as thick ( female infront ). I'm surprised at the size of the nauchal hump on this female, which made me think i had two males at first. But the pairs behaviour and what looks to be a dropped tube makes me think otherwise.

If that does turn out to be a female... wow! Either way they are both nice fish.

to me both of their tubes look the same.


I had 2 males trying to breed before. Until 2 days after courting one found out the other is not a female and whooped him.

I thought as much. It's a shame there are people out there that would sell these two as a breeding pair if so.

For just how well they get along and do act like a pair, you can't blame seller for thinking they are a pair. Not every one gotta be fish freeks and know all about fish sex education. Normal ppl do not know about sexing fish.. But if they told you that they had fry before then that's another thing..

Yeah I was told they've had fry and the 'female' is a good parent
