Hi All,

I have 2 baby arowanas in (temp in a 30 Gal tank as my 180 gal is under const). I have seen today morning that there is white spots on top of head above the eyes on one of my aros her size is 5". Water conditions are extremely good as i change 30% water every 4 days they are there in this tank since last 2 months and haven't notice any spot earlier, i have posted 2 photos for your reference. need your help to see if this is normal or not...

P.S. Sorry for the img quality

Regards
Ajay

ajay.. do you have a heater in the tank? how high is the water level in the tank and how close to the tank top? do you keep a small light around the tank at night or is it completely dark? Are the aros showing aggression towards each other? if you could post a better picture.. i have a feeling the aro jumped and hit the tank top.. probably because it got freaked out at night or because one of them is being the dominant one and showing aggression.. and are they both feeding? is the one with the spots showing any sign of lethargy? try to get the 180 done soon bro.. cheers..

Thank Kaya, Yes i have a heater and i maintain a temp from 24 to 26 degree, the water level is 6" less then the top but the internal light is 3" from the water level do you think should i bring it down?... (I keep a night light always on in their room)

i made a mistake of keeping 2 babies in same tank and domination was an issue since then however this one dominates the other... their feeding is normal they both eat without any issues. I feed them with cockroaches, crickets and dried shrimps, they love eating all these things.

I have a 10 days break starting this Sat and i am planning to complete the tank in this duration. Keeping both in 180 G will be fine or do i need to trade off one.

cool.. the tank light.. dont use it.. just keep a night light on in the room.. i guess they should be fine with that amount of space.. but a 180 will also get small for two adult aro.. just keep that in mind.. if they are still aggressive think about having a glass divider and see how it goes.. then think about giving it away..(give it to me.. i adopt ;) ) crickets and shrimps are ok.. but cockroaches.. dont tell me you catch em at home!!?? you never know where cockroaches in our country have been.. so stay away.. and make sure the crickets are small ones.. cos they might find it tough to eat them.. anyways.. the tank should just take about a day to get done.. let the silicone dry for a week.. dont take the lfs sayin "next day you can fill water".. fill water and wait for a day.. wash and then refill.. probably a few tester guppy.. then move the aros.. ten days i'm sure you can get it done.. all the best.. cheers..

Thanks Kaya... will sure take care of the these things... 180 G is a stop gap for a year then i am planning for some thing big or much bigger :p LFS around my place are useless therefore i decided to build 180 G myself. I already tested by make few small tanks (couple of 30 G) for my friends... however i have a question regarding that... I have planned to build the 180 G will a 12mm Clear Glass... do you guys think it will be safe or should i use a thicker glass? if so then how thick will be arosafe ?

hey ajay.. sorry was not in town.. use this calculator to check how safe the tank will be and what thickness will be right...

30 gallon tanks will not use braces.. but this might need it.. so study how and where you will need them and do up the tank.. what dimension will your 180 Gallon be?
