in order to accurately diagnose what the white spots are, we need a photo of your oscars. use a good camera and get as close and clear a picture as possible.
I am guessing its ich.
One of the greatest treatments is
Salt and 80+ deegre temperature.
Or you can purchase some medicines ( but take the carbon out of the filter )
Remember the 50 percent water changes every other 3rd day
sounds like ich. take out the carbon in your filter and use quick cure its really cheap and works great you can get it at walmart to the reccomended dosage and turn the temp up to about 85. should clear up in a couple days make sure to do a good gravel vac and a large water change also
Temps below 86 won't kill ich. They'll speed up its life cycle. Slowly raise the temp to 87-88 and add an airstone to facilitate oxygenation. Hold the temp for two weeks after the last sign of ich. No cure will eliminate it in a few days. The temp all by itself should kill it.
the oscars were put in a container? much better to treat them in their tank. this way they are not overly stressed. the salt isn't going to hurt your tank any.
and i'm not sure about rock salt, but table salt is perfectly fine to use. cheap too!
yes i i dont have any extra tank so i move my oscars to the big container...ice chest...
.
@armando> markets shrimp, fish...dats edgar he eats anything..lol..
if it is ich (i haven't seen a photo yet to confirm), then you need to treat the whole tank and all the fish in the tank. all the fish have been exposed, and all need treated.
