Now i've done my research on this, have been on google for the past hour. my question is, my red spotted sev had white stringy poop last night. the night before i fed them a couple maggots, which is why i didn't pay too much mind to the feces color. but he didn't eat last night or this morning. Should I treat him? should I wait it out another day or so? He's acting normal besides the lack of appetite. I haven't done anything yet, nitrates are at 15ppm, ammonia and nitrite at 0ppm. I'm about to do a water change. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tough call definitely see what other experienced members have to say. If you can get him to eat some peas it may help if hes just constipated. If he starts eating i would definitly feed epsom soaked pellets for a few days. Search for RD's thread on hex and epsom soaked pellets

Was he eating and pooping normally before feeding the maggots

White feces can be a pain in the a**. I would see the white poop followed by spitting food followed by no interest in food followed by heavy breathing then a day or 2 later the fish would be dead. Something that helped my tank for a while was treating with Clout. I say a while because I just started seeing it again after a nice month of normal feces. Good luck and I hope you can find something that'll save your fish.

I have only encountered it with new fish. Parasite guard always did the trick for me. You may want to request the mods to move this to the health and disease section.
What size tank ?
Tankmates ?

eating and pooping normal before the maggots, first time I've fed them maggots. tank mates are a JD and pictus cat in a 48x18 75gal. They're all between 3 and 4 inches.

I moved the sev to a 20 gal QT and treated with clout. He's made an attempt at eating but spits it back up.

Would I have to treat my JD too? pictus?

I really would have this moved to the health/disease section
