I was looking at my new 75 the other day and i noticed all my fish were staying in one corner. then i noticed all these white spots on the glass and when i scraped it off it came off in like long white stans. What is this stuff and how do i get rid of it? i posted a few pics to help there is a pic of my spray bar with the white stuff on it there are some scrap marks were i tryed to get it off.

Well for some reason i cant upload pictures right now

Just looks like sand sediment to me...Anyone else???

I can't really see what the pics are to show. Just some thoughts, since the fish are reacting the way they do, test your water. Second, I am thinking it may be a type of hydra. They have stinging cells and fish will avoid them. They have a foot that can suction to any smooth surface. This may be the cause of the smears. Salt or temperature will kill hydra.

Ok, I just figured out how to enlarge the pics. The spray bar looks like silt from the sand or benificial bacteria. How new is the tank? Was the filter cycled before adding fish or are they the cycling fish? If the filter was not cycled, there may be an ammonia build up. This will cause the fish's behavior to change like this. Again, test the water or take a water sample to your LFS for them to test.
Good luck.

Oh, if it is a water quality issue then the solution is water changes. Everyone has different recommendations, but I would suggest 10% daily changes for a week and then retest. Small daily water changes will cause less stress in your fish. They are already stressed enough as is.

the tank is about 2weeks old. i test for ammonia and the reading was 0. also i add sand to the tank about a week ago and it got pretty cloudy now the water cleared up and i got this stuff every where. im going to start doing water changes and well see what happenes

You should have added the sand BEFORE the water, let it settle, then turn your pumps on. Becareful that your motor isn't going to get screwed by the sand.
