alright i have a fluval 305 canister and i went to change my carbon and i pulged it in syphoned it and these white little weird things came out! like millions of them! i looked really close and im SURE that isn't bubbles. is parasites visable to the eye?! because it looked like it has legs! lol not all of them thoo like for example pieced brine shrimp but white. this happened to me before but i thought it wasnt a big deal my cichlids didnt get harmed but im just worried because of my puffer, datnoid and arowana.

It's normal, nothing to worry about. If your really concerned take your hoses off and squirt the garden hose through it to clean them out, I usually clean the hoses twice a year

It happens with all canister filter hoses eventually. It's just buildup of crud in the hoses, not parasites or anything dangerous. Just clean the hoses

it sounds like "Planaria"... they harmless and if you see them in your tank in large numbers its generally a sign that theres a lot of rotting left over food or detritus. Its nothing to worry about.

That's not what I've seen come out of my hoses, The stuff I'm talking about isn't alive, it's just crud. Fluvals have those corrugated/ribbed hoses that tend to trap little particals of stuff, and if you turn the filter off, some of it breaks free and comes out the return when you turn it back on

yeah its not live like what shellies said its like white crud im just guessing its not harmless it's just all in the hose? oh and twicksisted what fish is that in your avatar look nice! is it freshwater?

I think the only problem it could cause is higher nitrate levels, because it's probably organic, but I change water a lot and often, so I don't see it.
