I recently got a great deal for a 150 on CL and cleaned the crap out of it with white vinegar, and set it up. Bear in mine I cleaned the hell out of it with water after I was done with the vinegar. But it still smells like vinegar. I filled/emptied it 3 times with no avail. Should I just plop a sock full of carbon in there or what would you guys suggest?

Moved to Setup and Filtration.

I'd try carbon, it should remove anything in the water column.

You gave the tank a good douching.I think carbon for a month and it should go away.

It sounds like you didn't let the tank thoroughly dry after you used the vinegar. Vinegar odor will dissipate as it dries. (I know, I use it on floors and bathrooms all the time.) Possibly some residue was still in the tank as you filled it? It's very pungent, so even a little can probably get your attention.

Regardless, using carbon should help, so yes, I'd try that.

The nice thing about vinegar is unless you dump a gallon into your tank ( or alot) it won't bother your fish much. why we always mixed it w/ water to wipe down tanks at work.. a lil' here 'n there and never bothered nothing. carbon wouldn;t hurt but imo you prolly don't even need that.
