I have a 55g with 4 happy Gourami's in it.

Today when I went to go vaccum the sand I noticed that when the sand was disturbed a couple, hair thin, 1/2" long, "worms" swimming in my tank. They literally liked like a white hair swimming. The kinda moved in a spiral motion.

Any ideas?

Check out the next page there is a thread titled ( tiny white worms swimming in my tank). Let me know if any of that was helpful.

Neither the planaria nor detritus worms will likely harm your fish though. If they overpopulate, chances are likely you're trying to overfeed your fish meaning you are feeding your fish more than adequately and that the food leftovers are scattered around enough for these creatures to forage on. If you can cut back on feeding and do a more thorough vacuuming of food leftovers, it'll help reduce their number.

i have them in my tank...no harm...cut back on feeding ... i think they will never fully go away right?
