So, Im starting a low tech tank with potting soil as substrate. Its been filled sbout 4-5 days now. Only inhabitant is a helenasnail. I tested the water ysterday, 7.5PH and 3KH, tried to put a small fish in but sadly it didnt make it an hour. Theres lots of plants in there, but I've decided to add more and let it rest for a couple of month

Anyhow - its full of white micro-worms :nilly: and Im not content waiting it out if they thrive in the tank.

They are extremely thin and about 3-4mm long. They tend to stay in the upper region on the glass, under water, and there are clusters above the water line in the corners, looking like small pink anemones. They are quite speedy as well, alot faster then the snail

Anyone have any ideas?

Might be nematodes or planaria?....Such worms usually appear in tanks that have heavy bio load issues but your set up does not seem to be in that category. The worms are mostly harmless to fish and some small fish will even eat them.Try a few guppies.

looked it up and it does indeed look like planaria, thanks

There is another type of worm as well tho. They are pink and extremely thin, even more so then he planaria. They seem to stay in the corners above the waterline as if feeding on the scraps there. some of them have died and are stuck to the glass and the rest are in thick clusters. some are under water and swiming freely tho and are about 2 cm long..?
