Heres a wierd thing, got 2 small Oscars 2 inches, one of them keeps passing a sort of pellet of white worms which scatter all around the tank and end up clinging to the glass. He looks healthy enough and eats like all Oscars eat. Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like a parasite factory in that fish and most likely both now. Buy some treatment for parasites, preferably from the same store (so you can demand a employee discount for selling you sick fish).

I think your fish has tapeworms.:(

not sure if Maracyn Plus will work on them but it has eliminated parasites for me in the past. It would be a safe bet to assume all other fish in the tanks are infected as well IMO.

Better start looking for meds. If you act fast they'll be ok. Don't get too worried

Good luck, hope they pull through and grow up big n strong for you:headbang2

white worms on the glass are common in fish tanks. all most all tanks have those worms in the gravel but they only come out when the tank is a little dirty.
you need to 1 starve the worms a little so don't feed your O for a few days. Also, clean your tank and more importantly syphon your gravel. they disappear the second there is less food for them.

Usually little white worms on the glass is planaria, but I have never seen a fish pass them as a pellet. Planaria comes from overfeeding, clean glass then do large water change and vacuum gravel. Fast the fish for a day then cut back on feeding.
(If they are truly planaria)

I have found out what they are. The oscars were wild caught fish and the infestation of worms is part of a cycle that needs another host to continue, ie fish eating birds. Without that they die. Got me worried for a while though, never seen anything like it, clouds of worms coming out its vent, yuk!
Thanks for your post's guys.

He described them coming out of this fish, these are not planaria. Planaria are a result of high organics (too much waste) in the tank, I've had them before too, They are not a threat to the health of the fish.

IMO what he described are tapeworms, or some other parasitic organism....which ARE a threat to his fish.

Shouldn't be too tough to treat though. Also Be careful with your hands in the tank. I believe human can get tape worms if there is a cut or something on your hand and its in the tank.

Good luck with them:D

This is why I stated I have never heard of them being passed as a pellet.
Thus the statement (If they truly are planaria)
