they are called planaria. read more about them here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planarian

they are common and harmless. they can be a sign of over feeding though so check the amount of food your giving. if you cut back on feeding you will see the population decline very rapidly and vice versa.

ok well iv only been feeding every other day and they eat everything in less then 30 seconds so maby i will cut back a bit. thanks for the info

put some guppie in the tank the guppie love to eat those

salt always does the trick for me for some reason...

good to know i am not a huge fan of putting salt in my tanks but if i have to i will try that.. thanks

they are not only a sign of overfeeding. they can show a slack maintenance schedule, no disrespect intended. vac the gravel that bit more and up the waterchanges a bit to twice a week if you already do it once a week. if you only feed every couple of days then i doubt its the amount of food as long as they eat it all. but from what i understand P's are quite messy and debris from them eating will sink and sit on/in the sand/gravel.
so again back to gravel vac.

i gravel vac once a week during the water change and i have 2 rena xp4's for filtration and no food even hits the bottom of the tank, water changes twice a week just seems like a little much but i dunno i am still new.
