My buddy's 6" marble is pooping out white/yellow stringy poop. He introduced some fishes into the tank and they are the culprit. He's removed the fish and the marble is in its own tank, 135gal. The marble was doing fine before the other fishes were introduced, it was pooping nice solid dark brown poop. Water is ammonia 0, nitrite 0, and nitrate 15ppm tested with API liquid test kit. 30% water change was just done.
The question is: Should he use Metronidazole or Prazi for the poop issue? Also, should he soak the shrimp in the meds and feed, medicate the tank, OR do both? Any help is greatly appreciated. If you guys need more info, I'll ask him.

Also forgot to mention the ray is still eating normally. Market shrimp and live blackworms.

I was thinking that. I guess I'll tell my friend to soak shrimp in Metronidazole and feed it to the ray.
Any other help guys................:nilly:

What is it being fed on?

Can you post some pics of the poop.

Often the poop is a direct link to the food...white food = white poop etc....

Might not be a problem

Only market shrimp 2x a day. Would this be the cause of it?
No signs of any white poop floating around today so he couldn't take a pic of it.

I would soak the food in Prazi. You can also treat the tank water. Prazi is pretty gentle compared to other meds... you could also try the metro.

The rays need a varied diet 1) for their health and development and 2) to stop them getting fixated on one food.

If you ate market prawns every day then your poop would soon become odd and you would become I'll over time....it's the same for rays.

I suspect this could be purely diet related.

I do recall seeing a lot of problems on here and there seems to be a lot of people feeding market prawn....I am not sayingnthey are bad for rays but I wonder if feeding only on them is the key to many health issues.

I'd say prazi bath it!!! Wouldn't hurt! And yes a varied diet is a must! Pellets, shrimp, worms, and I hear the occasional live is pretty good! But make sure the live is QT before feeding them to the rays! Goodluck!
