I just bought a Texas Cichlid and it has the blue spots, but it's like a whitish gray color. Is that like a different type or something?

They change their base color to match their substrate. Add black gravel if you want your fish to look good.
Right. So it's trying to match it as best it can. If you put in black gravel or sand, or possibly if you just add a black background, he'll be pretty again.
Okay cool =) thanks for the advice ill try that any other cool colors? I was thinking maybe black with a blue light and blue background or something? Black and blue gravel.
