im intrested to know how manny ppl and who keeps plecs with there rays?
what kind of plec is in there and how long its been there?

always been frightend to keep them together but i see ppl`s ray pics and every now and then i see a pleco inthere.

i need something to clean off the wood in my tank. the flagtail dose a great job of everything else but never touches the wood. if i scrape the wood with my nails there is a very soft mushy layer and just thought a plec might clean it off.

my wood is huge so i may need a couple lol.

I have heard too many horror stories about plecos sucking on the rays, so I would say don't chance it. Especially with a beauty like that in your avatar.

I have a gold nugget pleco and 2 leopard frog pleco's with my rays and discus. I have a huge peice of driftwood in their tank that all three hang out on/hide in. I rarely see them. I did however lose a snowball pleco, it looked as though the rays tried to snack on him, Im not sure if it was the cause of his death, or if they nibbled on it after it died. Just be careful with your choice and it should be fine. Although none of them really clean the wood in the tank very well.

i have always kept a common pleco w my rays

the only thing i have to watch is that he will suck on wounds

my pleco is about 14" and he even does great with pups...

if you have rays, why even bother with plecos? the rays should be left alone at the bottom and other tankmates should fill the upper levels of the tank IMO. it eliminates complications and creates a nice "fuller" looking tank

When i was at pier Niel told me he keeps LDA-133 snowballs with his. They were his recommendation for a catfish with rays.

I keep L-183's with my rays. I think you would be safe putting medium sized plecos with your rays. Sounds like your plecos would spend most of the time in that driftwood of yours anyways. With the amount of food rays love to eat, I would think your plecos would have enough scraps so keep it from bothering the rays.
