I officiate football and this is a fun ? for fans of the sport. We (officials) use what's known as a clip as a reference to re-set the "chains" if they get moved. The question is, why is there a 55 yard line indicator on the clip? (if i have told you the answer dont spoil it!)

because the 55 (45) is the most common place for people to be playing on the field? Just a guess
