Planning my next tank at the moment.
It shall probably be in the range of 1200 - 1500 litres.
I am planning to use "stage heating", i.e. taking the total wattage required and dividing it by 3, having 3 heater/stats, setting the stats at very slightly different temperatures. The theory? If one sticks on the ON position and continues to heat above the set temperature, the other TWO shall cut out, and a single heater with one third of the required wattage shall not raise the temperature to such a degree the fish shall be adversely affected. Conversely should a heater fail in the OFF position and remain off the other two should maintain a reasonable temperature, thus avoiding any EXTREME highs or lows (cooking or chilling the fish). Of course two could fail in either position (or three for that matter) but the statistical probability of that would be so much lower. Anyone utilise this at the moment? Any comments? I am currently using Jager(Eheim) H/Stats they seem to be very efficient and reliable, anyone have any good/bad reports on H/stat manufacturers?
Thank you

this has always seemed the way to go........i set my thermostats 1 degree apart........very happy with the results........

 Wise choice. I follow the same principle only w/ two heaters rather than three. "T"
