1st of all eliminate fish that stick their eggs to things like Cichlids, Plecos and Morays........we'll figure this out together lololol I wish I had an answer but I like solving mysteries. We're looking for an egg-scatterer, so barbs definitely on the list of culprits

I do have a good amount of driftwood in the tank. But, the barbs are only 3", and that's a lot of eggs!

Can't tell if fertilized, the eggs are getting hammered with 1000gph to the socks. But definitely not salvageable.

Loaches? Cuz they got this weird slime coat thing sometimes, and the there are a lot of eggs with thick slimy coating.

although in hindsight I can see no candidate that could be responsible for the oily, slimy coating besides the Gymnothorax polyuranadons. An Eel's slime coat is like no other

I don't the moray is the owner of the eggs
as far as I know they have never been recorded to lay eggs in captivity
I would have to check with the loaches though
the slime could be from just the gunk and other things that normally get caught in the filter
