I've been using Aquariacentral.com
and didn't know anything about MFK i decided to join, mainly because the topics are different.
So.... Who has both?
and why do i need 5 post to views someones "Member Page"

Welcome to MFK. Many of the members have dual registrations.

This belongs in the Lounge. I'll move this for you.

I have both, but I don't go on AC much anymore. I used to enjoy helping newbies learn the basics, and help them better understand certain aspects of the hobby. Then I got burnt out on 'helping' and bored of platies and such.

MFK is less helping, more sharing, but you can still get excellent help here, albeit with more advanced topics.

I see AC as an excellent starter forum for aquaria, then once you get to a certain level of knowledge, it gets boring over there.

On top of that, most of the AC members keep your regular common small tropical community fish. The ones that don't are on MFK anyways, and then some.

i.e.:

post a pic of a gulper cat:

AC response: Wow! I've never seen that fish before!

MFK response: Nice Gulper! What's your setup like? Tankmates? I have 5.

I've been using AC for their chat since we don't have one here.

uuummmmm........

I have both but haven't used the AC one in years. And while that is a great forum it is a forum based mainly of members with smaller tanks/more common fish. Not to be taken as an insult, but in my views MFK is for the exotic and predatory monsters people who experiment with stocking that many would say just won't work. People who are free to stock africans/other continents together without pestering. So it's a more advanced level site. People who don't mind spending their paycheck on fish. People who come to share more than pester people about stocking levels. Just what MFK is in my eyes I guess.

Not that there aren't great members here who keep smaller tanks. I just think of MFK as the site for after you get your basic degree in fishkeeping.

I visit both.

I like both.

but there it seems that there are a lot of stocking police over on AC sometimes that really bog down threads about certain fish with comments like 'you need a 180 gallon tanks for those loaches etc etc"

that the only thing that bugs me about AC sometimes.

someone asks a question concerning there fish and instead of answering the question, the topic is hijacked with posts about tank size, adult size, its too big etc..
