I have to get all four of mine removed tomorrow morning and some people have told me it's no big deal and some have told me it was the worst pain they have ever been through. What do you guys think!?

:help2:

Thanks!

I only had 2 removed (cause I only had 2!). I didn't find it to be that bad but I think it's different depending on how they are coming in and how your constitution is.

Literally I sat down and they told me to count backwards from 10 for the anesthesia. I got to about 5 and then all of a sudden I was waking up! lol they told me that everything was good and I was done and I was messed up on the anesthesia so my mom had to pick me up (even though the doctor was on my corner, thats how woozy you get).

The pain wasn't bad, sort of like an intense ache. I just took the pain meds they prescribed if I felt I needed it. I've been through 4 years of braces so having my mouth ache nonstop for a while wasn't bad.

I've had friends who had harder times though. It really depends.

its no big deal. the worst part is the injections to numb the area. after that they either get a pointed instrument with a slight curve to it, crack the tooth and lever it out. 20 secs per tooth on my top ones.

the bottom they used the pliers, literally grip, twist and pull. but again the worst part was the injection. 20 secs per tooth.

the pressure the have to exert to get them out feels quite brutal and it can feel like they are going to really hurt you. just keep it in your mind they do that sort of thing everyday and they know what they are doing.

of course if your going under with a general anesthetic then you wont know anything until you wake up but i advised my wife against a general after having had 6 ops myself and i know what it feels like to come around and be in pain as well, coping with one of them is bad enough but both at the same time isnt fun.

See they just put me out. I didn't ask for it, that was the best option I think. No local anesthetic.

depends on the doctor....mine wasnt bad. but u will throw up the first night from the leaking blood in ur stomach but make sure u get the cleaning syringe and use it to keep the holes clean. Mine was super smooth first night is the roughest. GL

what the hell do those american dentists do to you to make you bleed so bad. i was told that if it started leaking then bite down on the cylindrical sponges they gave me (basically applying pressure like any wound) and if it didnt stop to go to hospital because a clot should form while your in the dentists and it shouldnt bleed after that if you follow the instructions. in the first 24hrs you have to be aware that the clot is still fresh so you have to be careful what you drink and eat so it doesnt get pulled or washed out.

i agree with the syringe though, get the blunt angled tip from the pharmacy to squirt the antiseptic mouthwash into the wound to clean it.

well its a fresh wound and it will bleed a little...not tons of blood but enough lol

I didn't throw up or have massive amounts of blood or any of that. Little spotty blood from where the stitches were but not enough to make me sick.

Make sure you use that syringe often! When I had mine pulled, I guess i didn't clean out the holes as good as I should have... Well my jaw got infected and swelled up. Looked like I had half a Jay Leno jaw...
