I am looking at getting a ray in the near future and I was wondering how big they normally get in the home aquarium. I know some can get 3' discs but No one has one in capivity that I know of.

So who has the largest ray?
How old is it or how long have you had it?
What size aquarium is it housed in?
Can you post a pic?

Thanks for the info guys.

And if you are wondering what tank the ray would go into look at the link in my sig.

i have two 23 to 24" rays housed in 480 gallon tanks i have had my hystrix now for 5 years maybe 6

Very nice. If I don't see alot of 30"+ rays ill be a very happy guy. But I do have 36" to work with. But I would NOT want a ray that had a disc of over 32" I think that size would make me be calling on some fellow MFKers to take it off my hands. lol

But Very nice rays.

Keep the pics comming I hope to hear from miles and see what he has. I would like to see at least 5 or six more big rays to get an idea of what I would be looking at. Thanks for all the help

Stay away from the castexi and you will most likely be fine in a 36" width aquarium.

Pat amazonstingrays.com has a female motoro of mine that I got in 2000....that makes her about 8 to 8.5 years old. I believe that she is about 21" in disc diameter now.

Brent,

Nice glasswork to the bottom left of the garage tank. :grinno:

^^ LMAO!!! It's definetly no "Mothership" but is indeed very nice...... Is it a Jerome Baker Design?

Tyson? I think had some huge tigers, Mike has some huge black/other rays. Really it comes down to what ray you're getting. Stay away from the top of the larger species and you'll be ok.

What kind of ray were you thinking about?
