I never see any pics of big Odoes on this site. I got mine in November 08 at 5 inches, and now he is maybe 10 inches. Here is a pic from maybe a month ago:

Does anyone else have a large Odoe?

interesting species of fish and is one of them to come next to my plan fishes to keep in the near future...that is one nice specimen yu have their! Im wondering the same thing...who does have a large specimen?...

i've got 5 8-9inches. they don't seem to grow much length, have had them for about 7months.

are there 2 kinds of odoes? Some on the net resemble the mouth in the photo posted above. Mine appear to have shorter snouts. Hoping that it may come with maturity

You don't have them with ATF right?

I believe they would annihilate ATF.

I got a chance to feed couple feeders at my lfs to these and they just are way more aggressive.

I dont have one currently but they have some of the most beautiful taifins of any of the characins.More so than the Goliath Tiger.

yea i had them with the ATF for a while. have read around this forum talking about how mean odoes are but this bunch are real docile. stay on top side of water. ATFs dont hang out around there but when cross paths, no issues. Now in a tank with a giant channa, some dorados, couple arrows, and pike cichlid. they are more aggressive when hunting, but with much less tactic.

I have a group of 4 Odoes. Agree 100% with Mad ness, these things have a bad reputation for being mean and they simply aren't. Mine are VERY docile. I had them housed with a 5 in PTC for a while and they never even looked at it funny. I recently added a group of Dorado to my tank. The bigger Odoes did size up the smaller Dorado but never went after it. Odoes are around a foot (cause thats all the bigger they get in home aquariums :ROFL:) . Smaller Dorados are 5-6 inches.

Don't know if the Dorado will be kept with the Odoes long term..... Have some very rare Characins on the way and don't think I'll risk the Dorado shredding them, so more then likely the Dorado will be moved. So far a few tattered fins on the smallest Odoe but other than that no real issues other then the Odoes have began staying lower in the tank, as it appears the Dorado have stolen thier topwater.

Awsome stock DBJunkie. Yeah, I have read that they likely will be nasty towards other similar looking fish and even their own kind. I guess you proved that claim wrong.
