who has the biggest, baddest red devil? I have one about 8 inches, can't wait till he is full grown, but until then , i wanna see the best mfk has to offer. so let's see em!
I know I don't have the largest RD's but I can say for sure that they are pure. They are not a mix. I got them from Jeff Rapps(TUIC). I have 3 and they are all about 3 inches, still young yet!
i think my rd is about 9"-10". i think its a female. my little rd is only about 5". i think its a male. gonna put them in a 90 together and hope i get some fry when the lil guy gets bigger. i dont think either of them are pure though.
here is my hopefully big female.
The biggest Midas/RD? Don't know whether or not he's on this site, but a friend of mine has a 14" monster. Absolutely psycho. The noise when he bites the glass is unreal! Mine "General Lee" or "The General" is not the biggeset, not the meanest, but has to be one of the best looking As of tonight he is just over 10"...busted out the measuring tape while he was attacking my mirror, so he was stiff and pointing straight.
Here he is...
This next one is just from tonight. I'll probably move the pleco to another tank...
SouthCentral that Red Devil is wicked. Congrats! Do you think he will lighten up. Most do don't they?
What do you feed him? Must be getting good doses of Astaxanthin (red/orange promoting carotenoid used in aquaculture trout and salmon diets to colour flesh) or found naturally in krill and shrimp.
Thanks guys. I love "The General". As far as feeding goes, his staple since he was little has been Hikari Cichlid Gold and several Omega One products, mainly Omega One Cichlid Pellets. His diet is supplimented with beefheart mixed with paprika and garlic, shrimp, earthworms, (used to feed bloodworm, but he's too big for that now), just a tiny piece of chicken now and that...can't help it, he loves chicken, and the occasional algae eater . We've always been really strict about water changes too. As far as fading, many do start to by 4-6", he's now over 10" with little sign of fading. I'm not even cheating and using aqua glo's with all the red and orange spectrum, just lifeglo for increased light (he's got a deep tank), which has relatively little red and orange. He may fade in time, he has just a bit I suppose since he was smaller, he used to glow under the aquaglo's. I've just put a fairly large oscar on the other side of his tank...strong divider, and his hump has grown in size by quite a bit since these pic's from the other night. Well, that's a little about my midas. I'd love to see some more midas/RD's on here.
