So ive been thinking about adding a couple of Blue Botia (Yasuhikotakia modesta) to my 125. Since one of my LFS has some for a killer deal of $5.99. What I've read is they can reach as larger as 10". Does any one have or seen of any that size. What have your experances have you had with them? Would the mix well with Clowns?

I wouldn't mix blues/red/yellow tail with clowns. Too territorial! Blue Botia are better off blending with other aggressive loaches such as Tigers and skunk IMO.

I was gonna put them in my 55 loach tank until they grew large enough for the 125. I have 6 Zebras, 5 yoyo an 1 skunk in the tank now. You think it would be a bad idea to add 3 of them to that tank?

I have three with my clowns...as long as they have their own holes, they are okay。they argue mostly amongst themselves...

Do you think it would be best to only put on blue in my loach tank? Or will the school together?

I didn't know these could be mixed with other species of botia...i always heard people say just one per tank

You want either one per tank or more than 3...5 are better. My clowns greatly outnumber the blues so all they do is chase away any clowns that get into their holes...if I only have one clown I would be concerned about the clown.

I had my clowns and blues in with each other of all different sizes, biggest clown was 11", biggest blue was 5-6" and all other sizes mixed in, no issues whatsoever, there is no problem mixing the two. Often I would see the groups of 18 split up into 4 groups, back to 3, etc and the botias were always mixed in with the groups.
