I have been through all the threads about building plywood tanks, the one thing that is missing is how long they last.

Please post a pic of your plywood tank here and tell how long it has been up and running

BUMP There are some really nice plywood tanks on this site. How old are they or does someone have a older plywood tank ? I ould just like to know how long they last, 5 yrs. 10 yrs. longer ????

I have seen shallow plywood tanks that have held water for over 20 years. Have heard of several more than have held water for over ten.

None of them were for Monsters, however.

BTW, I see you are in Sturgis. I'm down in Rapid City. Not keeping any fish but may build a guppy tank for my son this winter.

This thread exists somewhere already...

a friend of mine had one that was about 150 gallons and it didn't look all that good it was more of a test. but it held water for 20 years. the thing is he didn't coat the out side of the wood with anything so as time past the top layers of woo were slowly pealing away. he did build a few smaller ones and I think he used an oil base house paint for the out side of the tank and those seemed to look like they were just built but were about 15 years old.. he was building a really big one, but I never saw it because i moved, I don't know if the guy is even alive anymore, he was getting up there in age..
but built right they will last a long time..
