87 cm is < than 3 feet... i think a gar can reach that mark in no time... try browsing through the pond section to find out that you dont have the BIGGEST gar....

side note: don't ya guys think that width of his tank is to short for the Gar to turn?

Now that I think of it it seems you never see any of these people on here with their newly I'Ded gators ever say anything about after about a week or a month. Somehow the fish just disappears and is never seen again.

But doesn't a gator gar reach 3ft rather fast? I thought I read that?

I agree with you though, alot seem to disapear soon after the people obtain them..

i think you scared him away or hopefully buying a new tank!!!! i am a fishKEEPER and i just got a new baby today only 8" and in a 210 from start.

I would advise you put that fish in a smaller tank before it kills it self....Grow it out a bit then introduce it.

Not the case of it being good... It is best to raise these fish at this size in a smaller tank and move them up as they grow. Little gar in a big tank is a bad idea especially when coupled with tankmates. Incidence of loss or unrecoverable injury is much greater when keeping a small gar in a large tank.
