Thats right you heard it!! who here has done rocketry? Low power, Model, High Power, Research or other? OR if your just interested step on in..
Other then Aqauria, Rocketry was another long time hobby ive enjoyed since I was about 7 years old. Ive been in several magazines and online articles
over the years doing it. Always a great time full of fun and good people. Im a dual TRA (Tripolli Rocketry Assoc.) and NAR (National Assoc. Rocketry) member for many years.

Here is some pics and video of some of my past stuff. Please feel free to share or talk it up!! Be sure to listen to the video with some volume lol. Gives a better effect.

My daughters rocket (this pic is quite a few years old, shes now 21)

My small PML Endeavor flying on Big I motor power.

Min diameter H altitude shot.

3" diameter rocket with Super L motor for Altitude shot

4" Modified PML Endeavor on a Big K white wolf motor

My level 3 build

My L3 cert flight on big N power

Same rocket named Full throttle On some motors I designed and mixed myself. All of them are Big N motors 98mm diameter 4ft long

Here is the Video from that flight. Give it some volume so you can hear that power lol.. Again my propellant and motor.

MOre pics and videos to come as Ive got alot more Rockets.

did some small ones as a youth, about the size of the first pic, but it always seemed to be more walking than anything else, so the interest didn't hold up.
got any on-board footage?

Wow that's really hardcore! I used to LOVE those Estes model ones as a kid, but I never had a huge open field like that to play on.

And yes, even though I'm (unsurprisingly) anti-cruelty, I of course did the experiment where you put a bug in the little plastic chamber that's supposed to have an army man with a parachute. The bug was fine. I was like 8.

What do you have to do to legally build and launch rockets as big as the last few? It's clearly dangerous and not any schmoe could do it. I assume you've got to register the launch with the FAA or some local equivalent at the very least, no?

Actually I do. I will have to find it when I get home and upload it. The big blue rocket and a few others ive done some onboard camera/video. Gotten some great vids and pics. The walking can be there. But I dont mind. At some of the full day and week long launch events ive put some serious miles on my feet. BUT I dont mind and its always good when you have company of good friends to go with.

Some stuff depending on what your doing really makes a difference of what you have to do. At launches where your going to exceed 1500ft you need to have FAA notification and waivers. This allows us to fly the altitudes we do. My personal best is around 30K. Ive got friends that have broke 100K. That requires even more clearance with the military version of the FAA/AST. Then you have to deal with groups like the ATFE as some of the substances are classified as specific agents. Years ago they tried to classify our motors as an explosive in which our organizations placed a law suit on the ATFE and got the regulation of it removed from the explosives list as it is not an explosive. But Things like Ignitors or charges for deployment have some restrictions if your using Pyro methods like I prefer to use. I also am a big Research rocketry geek and like to design and mix/pour/cast my own propellants and some of the chems has specific regulations with DOT, NFPA and other alphabet groups. Its not a real big hassle. Just part of it. I went through all my steps and and got my Explosives permit as a dealer/manufacture. BTW you mentioned dangerous... Our hobby is one of the safest record wise out there due to specific self regulations we follow by local and national rules and regs.

I am away from my computer until Sumday, but I have tons of pics to upload - nothing huge like yours, but some decent-sized rockets.

-Painfully tapped from my wife's iPhone.

No worries Dan. Post em when you can. Always love to see them. And im sure yours are plenty awesome!!!

Always wanted to but never actually got around to it. For the biggins, how far from launch do they land?

I never got into the modeling aspect of rocketry. I hope this doesn't disappoint but, here's what I played with for 21 years:

Are those RIM67 surface to air multstage?

Were you on a destroyer or cruiser?

Navy man I'm assuming. Well from one navy family to yours let me say thank you so very much for your service!!!!

I've done some actual recreation rockets of actual scale along with help on some others of scale builds of military rockets that have flown.

How many did you ever get to launch if any? Still in use if I remember. Could be wrong.
