I have a L18 for close to 3 years now, he is only about 3'' or so. I am worried about him becasue his stomach is always sucked in. I feed him mostly zuccini wich he seems to like. But for the most part I am having a hard time giving him a good diet.

What do you guys feed your L18s????

Is it true they like more so meat then veg???

I really dont want to lose this guy hes my fav fish I've ever had. I'm thinkin of maybe setting up a a spare 10gal for now to give him his own little tank to try and beef him up.

nevermind, did a search fond some stuff and checked planet catfish!!. But if anyone has any helpfull advice or tips please share@@

I've got one and have kept them before... and IME they aren't the best plecos to keep in aquaria. It's very hard to get them to grow a lot. However a sunken stomach is not good. They are omnivorous and it would probably love bloodworms and prawn/shrimp/krill etc. However they need a lot of vegetable matter too. There is a lot of info on the dietry thread also. These fish will constantly graze the biofilm in the wild and they eat a lot, all the time. It is hard to replicate their natural eating habits, and COL mentioned in another thread:
"The most devoted hobbyist I know of painted egg whites and spirulina powder+peas onto clay tiles and tried that out for a while with his 81's; a strat I adopted for my fry. Now, if you'd be willing to do that all day, every day, in regular thirty minute intervals (or something), you might have a shot---so yeah, pretty much largely unfeasible."

Try him on some frozen Prawns mine love 'em ;)

Remember variety is the key. Feed often, feed wide varieties. Look for earthworm pellets/flakes, many plecos like them.
