I come home this morning, and find my water level to low for the filters to work in my 55, and 45. I was planing on picking up water anyway today. I decided to get some airstones in my 45 and let the gobies tough it out, and took enough water out for at least the 55 to run properly. I look around and see prety much what you would expect for a night without airiation: heavy breathing, dulled color, bichers not afected in the least. I saw my 10" carapo out of his cave, and next to the base of a false plant. It was breathing heaviest of all, although it still had good color. I look closely at it and saw that it had several scraches, and part of its tail chewed off, the end, red and white. Should i move him into my 45 with the gobies to heal? Who did it? it lives with a 3" red devil, 2.5" kk parrot, 2" JD, 8-10" kk parrot, 5" bicher, 3" albino bicher, 4" aggresive pictus. I only keep the red devil around, for it to fight with the small kk parrot, to help it get a good sized head lump both just flare gills and chase eachother, but both have perfect scales and fins. I am fond of the pictus, but if its him, i can find another tank for it.

you have a few suspects in that tank. I would try to peak at them at night to see if I could see how the culprit is.

damn... that's pretty poor...

check out your JD or your Parrots :P

go put them in the naughty corner!

I am thinking RD or pictus. To narrow the list the bite is straight, not curved, and vertical

you never keep small cichlids with eels or knives. reason being, these small cichlids will nip on the tail.

oh, and I don't really understand the situation from your description, but if you water level is too low, why don't you just fill it right back up with more water????

I just upped the water. tanx, lesson learned

JD, RD, Pictus.. in that order. Fighting over territory, probably at night time.. Make more hiding spots?
