I have a 6.5in Black Ghost Knife and a 6in Striped Peacock Eel that is currently MIA, in my 110 tank. I see a lot of empty MTS shells, which fish would be more likely to be eating the snails?
I've never seen Ms Knife go after the snails, she hunts fallen flakes and eats frozen foods from my hand.
The Eel went missing in my 75g as well, I only found it after cleaning out the tank. I put it in the 110g and for 2 weeks, I saw it every day. And it's been 3+ months or so now, still missing. I know it likes to hide in the sand, could the eel be the one who is eating up the MTS or is it both?
I saw the other thread where an eel went into a canister filter output. I guess mine could of gone in there, too. It's a Fluval FX5. The other tank had Fluval 205 and 305 canisters on it, the eel didn't go into those. But this canister has been catching air for about a month, all canisters do. I'm thinking it's the buildup of plant bits on the intake. But idk, maybe there is an eel in there, too...

Whats the whoel tank stock list? it's possible the eel is.. but I keep MTS in most my tanks and none of my spineys make a dent in the populations, but atm I don't own a peacock either... I def wouldn't put it past them or the knife. the thing is MTS are very hard to attack.. they are one of the most robust snails i've ever tried to get rid of... I have a population thats sustained in a tank with 3 beefy CL's and they can't erradicate them.

yeah Mbuna iir are almost exclusive herbivores. and gourami's don't have the equipment to eat them effectively... imo it's likely the knife and the eel. or one or the other. It's also possible the eel is in your filter eating snail scraps that get destroyed by your impeller ect... That they would most certaintly be capable of. also if your feeding less or if the fish are just cleaning up better will inhibit the snails reproduction... could be a few factors together.
